Learn More Now
Root communities happen in all sorts of places and some of the content of the learning material varies with the location. Faith groups, schools, offices and families can create Root Communities that will both deepen participants’ connections to each other and open new doors toward increasing self-knowledge and achieving breakthroughs in interpersonal understanding.
Because each group needs a facilitator who is familiar with the process, and in order to allow these leaders also to have the complete experience, we require everyone who leads a group to first be a participant in a group.
In order to accomplish this we hold four-day intensive experience twice a year. Through the intensive experience, individuals or organizations who have no local access to a Root Community can spend four days in a retreat setting having the full experience in a compressed time period. During these four days we cover all of the material and provide the same group interaction of the 16-week process.
If after participating in a Root Community (or a Root Community Intensive) you choose to facilitate a group, we will provide you with the leader materials and DVDs along with ongoing support through weekly webcasts and teleconferences.
There is no cost for this experience.
Those who have benefited from RCs feel so strongly about the importance of this material that we have chosen to make the experience free of charge. We hope this helps to open doors for people to participate from all walks of life. Those who have participated in the past have found the journey to be so transformative that they are “paying it forward” to you as a gift and we hope you will receive it as such. It is a free gift from other fellow pilgrims on the journey toward wholeness.
What you experience may lead you to “pay it forward” through making it available to others through your financial support, personal involvement, facilitating a group, etc.
But whatever you choose to do will not be paying back a debt to those who offer this gift to you now. It is a gift we hope you will receive with our blessings.
The time frame for a Root Community is designed to flow with the school calendar. We offer intensives in August so that those who participate can offer the 16-week curriculum between September and December. Those who participate in the September Root Communities can lead groups between January and May. We also offer a RC Intensive in November for those who would like to begin new Root Communities in January.
Root communities can be sponsored. Your school, church, company or organization can sponsor the formation of RCs but they are designed to be non-hierarchical in nature since leaders must also be participants. Though participation is an individual choice, organizations can advertise the formation of groups and support them through providing space, funding, etc. The benefits to the faith group, school or organization are many and include: increased skills at interpersonal relationships, increased self-awareness and self-management, insights into managing conflict effectively, a deeper sense of belonging, and a happier and healthier environment.
Faith-based groups will find that root communities go beyond the usual level of intimacy found in most Bible studies or Sunday School experiences. The insights are compatible and greatly empower those on a spiritual path.
School-based groups will discover the amazing transformation that happens when teachers and students become a true learning community.
Corporations and organizations will discover how community in the workplace can renew a sense of purpose and remove impediments to positive change.
